Floss

My man knows me well, so a few years ago he got me a box with 50 colours of floss,
with 2 of each colour. It quickly turned into a big mess, when I began to use it.

So I cut out some cards and began to roll up all the colours.

It took me a while, but I mostly did it at a crafting meet up,
where I was entertained by the lovely ladies there.

At first I had them all mixed up, but then I organized them and now I can't wait to start a new project.

Sometimes it's amazing how a little work can make your entire experience so much better.

The socks of woe

Remember my massive knitting failure #2? I've begun the re-knitting of that sock. The orange marker indicates the place I had to rip back to. I've almost done a full repeat already.

I don't like knitting it the second time any more than the first time. I think it is the  two different needle sizes that gets me. I don't get into a flow. The cables are easier, since I still have them fresh in memory, but the size 3mm needles aren't pointy enough. I find it difficult to twist the stitches.

I am now at the point, where I need to start the gusset. I'm not in a hurry to finish these. I know this may sound silly, but I don't want to knit bad feelings into them, so I'd rather go slow and try to enjoy every stitch. I am looking forward to find out when the yarn will run out and how many squares for my blanket I'll have to unravel. My guess is that I'll run out a few rounds before the ribbing starts.

Improving my spinning

My spinning is getting better by the skein. Much better in fact. Look at this two stranded yarn.

I spun 50 grams and got around 120m of yarn. I didn't measure wraps per inch, but I would call it fingering. In the picture below, the purple strand is a commercial sock yarn. My yarn is just a tiny bit thicker.

You want to know what the best part about this yarn was? It was balanced. The singles were balanced every timy I tested them and so was the plyed yarn. When I took it of my niddy noddy (currently in the shape of my chair's armrests) it hang straight down.

There is still a lot for me to learn, but there can be no doubt that my spinning is improving.
